Wondering where to get the best food in The Linc KL? We’ve got you covered with suggestions of some of the top restaurants in this popular mall on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Seasoned KLites will need no introduction to Ampang, when considering how it serves as the proverbial gateway into Kuala Lumpur proper. Leading along a major vein into the city centre, real estate conglomerates have seized every opportunity to introduce all manner of developments flanking both sides of a four-lane thoroughfare. With that said pride of place can be found in closest proximity to where both Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak intersect.
Among some of the few projects to have managed to snag one such slice of premium real estate is The Linc, which first opened its doors to the general public in KL in late 2018. Contrary to what most other commercial developments might offer in a typical retail mix, this upstart retail address sought to integrate sustainability into the very core of its principles.
Built around an open courtyard that integrates large trees that were found on the property during construction, it remains one of the most visually compelling shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. But beyond environmental consciousness, The Linc has also successfully brought in a wealth of promising tenants, many of which include some truly intriguing eats.
Whether you find yourself in the mood for a hearty bowl of ramen noodles, a fiery serving of Chinese hotpot with all the fixings, or just a simple sandwich with a side salad for a healthier bite, you’ll find it all here at The Linc KL.
How to get to The Linc KL

Board the Kelana Jaya LRT line and alight at the Ampang Park station, before walking towards Jalan Tun Razak. Cross the intersection and you will arrive at The Linc.

Bean Brothers

What we liked:
- The grilled cheese sandwich may be ordinary, but with a delightfully crunchy exterior that belies a savoury punch of flavour, it makes for the perfect light bite.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that Bean Brothers can’t whip up a hot meal when the occasion calls for it, despite what its name may lead you to believe. A menu containing condensed selections of savoury sandwiches and pasta dishes can easily accommodate the average business lunch, especially when enjoyed with a cup of expertly prepared coffee on the side.
Operating hours: 8.30am – 8pm daily

BIFE Charcoal Steakhouse
What we liked:
- The grilled picanha, which is served table-side, boasts an ever so slightly smoky note that yields moreish flavours.

Carnivores, if you’re dining anywhere in The Linc KL, let it be BIFE Steakhouse. Building a reputation on their spectacular array of delectable meat cuts, this buffet takes inspiration from the Portuguese churrasco cooking style on an open flame. De.wan 1958 by Chef Wan

What we liked:
- The Udang Steamed Aneka Rasa serves up freshly cooked prawns garnished with shredded ginger, bird's eye chilies, coriander, lemongrass, and tomato cubes for a sprightly bite that complements the sweetness of the crustacean.
Celebrity chefs combine on-screen charm with off-screen talent for a successful formula in media marketability, and nobody does it quite like Chef Wan does in Malaysia. Known for his ebullient personality and adept skill in preparing some of the country’s most storied culinary treasures, rest assured that eateries bearing his name easily exceed all expectations. De.wan 1958 by Chef Wan is especially beloved, taking pride of place as his flagship restaurant that serves a wide plethora of authentic Malay fare.
Operating hours: 11am – 3.30pm, 6pm – 9.30pm (Monday to Friday); 11am – 5pm, 6pm – 9.30pm (Saturday and Sunday)

Maruki Ramen

What we liked:
- The beef broth ramen topped with buttery soft beef slices is a sinful temptation down to the last slurp.
Good ramen is hard to come by, and Halal-certified ones constitute a truly scarce breed from that lot. Among the few elusive purveyors that can be depended on for a hearty bowl of robust broth and noodles takes the form of Maruki Ramen, whose pork-free rendition of this storied Japanese dish uses free-range chickens and premium beef cuts as the foundation of its stock, further seasoned with bonito, kelp, and spices.
Operating hours: 10.30am – 9.30pm daily

OMG Crab

What we liked:
- The Korean Soy Sauce Crab is definitely a must-try for first-timers, boasting strong umami notes that meshes with the salty marinade.
Fresh seafood can be prepared in a medley of different methods, all of which promise bold flavours whether on a skillet, grill, or pot. But in East Asia, where raw foods are consumed on a more frequent basis, bounties of the ocean can be enjoyed just as simply by marinating them in your choice of sauces and seasonings. No cooking required. OMG Crab is one such place to try out marinated raw crabs for yourself, with the crustaceans prepared true to a heritage recipe from Korea’s Jeju Island.

Shu Xiang Lou Hotpot and Szechuan Cuisine

What we liked:
- The well-balanced mala soup base, which is best enjoyed at the beginner spice level that skirts well within the comforts of a numbing heat, without taking away from the other accompanying flavours.
It seems as though every reasonably well-stocked shopping mall in the Klang Valley should have at least one decent hotpot restaurant to its name, and The Linc is no different. Shu Xiang Lou Hotpot and Szechuan Cuisine takes up that mantle here, offering your usual array of premium hotpot bites cooked in your choice of rich soup bases, with the mala spiced soup being the obvious highlight. But beyond hotpot delectations, you’ll also find other Szechuan delicacies served here if you prefer a meal with rice.

Sushi Hara

What we liked:
- The 11 course omakase menu brings out the best of what the kitchen team can source, both locally and from Japanese shores.
Kuala Lumpur has experienced quite a frenzy for Japanese fare over the past three decades, with new and novel culinary experiences that seek to translate Nihon fare onto local shores increasingly commonplace. But Sushi Hara takes authenticity to great extents, pursued by its Head Chef Hiroyuki Murakami, who boasts over three decades of experience perfecting his craft. This is best experienced through his restaurant’s bespoke omakase menu, spanning 11 courses.

Gurney Drive @ The Linc

What we liked:
- The curry noodles here are surprisingly above average, with a rich curry broth that keeps to a balanced measure of both spice and sweetness.
Food in Kuala Lumpur is plentiful, that much has never been in contention. However, there are some dishes that Penang simply does better, as assam laksa and char kway teow proponents will be quick to point out. With that said, you won’t have to slave away for three hours behind the wheel to make the trip over to the Pearl of the Orient for a taste of its best culinary exports, as you’ll find some of them within reach at Gurney Drive Penang.
Operating hours: 9am – 10pm daily

SOULed OUT Ampang
What we liked:
- The crafted mojitos here are still one of the best basic tipples to enjoy after a sweltering Kuala Lumpur afternoon.

The concept of restobars and gastrobars alike are now commonplace across Kuala Lumpur, but if one had to trace the origins of the trend in the city, you’ll likely find yourself coming across Souled Out. That continues to serve as the bedrock of their success today.

Ben's The Linc

What we liked:
- The pan roasted salmon steak is buttery soft and flakes with the slightest push of a fork, excellently paired with a supple pesto sauce.
Founded by Benjamin Yong, who spearheads the BIG Group of hospitality brands, Ben’s is arguably one of the earliest and most eminent brunch bistro chains in the city, having spearheaded weekend midday social meals at a time when high-teas were still the du jour default. The menu has seen a number of evolutionary iterations over the years to better suit changing consumer palates, but the core principles of Continental fare with Asian inflexions remain otherwise unchanged.
