UK-based distribution company Trafalgar Releasing has announced that Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert, a concert film showcasing legendary composer Hans Zimmer’s live performances and behind-the-scenes interviews, will be coming to cinemas worldwide. It will be released in limited screenings starting March 19, 2025.

The 158-minute film features Zimmer and his orchestra performing scores from Dune, The Lion King, Gladiator, and Interstellar at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena and Al Wasl Plaza Dome at Expo City Dubai. It also includes interviews with Billie Eilish, Finneas, Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (No Time to Die), Jerry Bruckheimer, Tanya Lapointe, Christopher Nolan, and Dune cast members Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Denis Villeneuve.

A cinematic concert experience of Hans Zimmer’s music

Set against backdrops ranging from the Arabian Desert to the Burj Al Arab, this project signifies Zimmer’s first official collaboration with a destination and his inaugural entertainment special. Drawing inspiration from his experiences in the city, he composed “Diamond in the Desert”, an original piece crafted exclusively for Dubai.

Zimmer described Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert as the “most exciting experience of [his] career”, bringing his compositions from the big screen to live performances and back to concert-style cinemas. “Seeing these compositions transform from their big-screen origins to the live show and then back to the big screen is a delightful full-circle moment. I hope audiences enjoy this peek behind the curtain as much as we enjoyed making it,” he said in a statement.
