IT’S BEEN A BUSY YEAR FOR TREND-SETTING hotel brand The Standard. As it prepares to celebrate a quarter-century of boundary-bending hospitality next year, the always unexpected brand opens two groundbreaking properties in Singapore and Bangkok’s Old Town.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled The StandardX, Melbourne in the creative hub of Fitzroy, and this month, it launched its second location in the world but it will be the first property in Asia, The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit. The address places guests in the heart of Bangkok’s cultural centre and hip nightlife districts.

The StandardX offers a variation on The Standard’s energy, conceived as a rebellious younger sibling to The Standard, drawing a younger traveller by placing them in vibrant cultural scenes that bridge gaps between art, fashion and music.
The Standard, Singapore throws open its doors for the first time on 15 December, giving stylish guests access to the excitement of Orchard Road, the UNESCO Botanic Gardens and Dempsey Hill.
Both properties provide seamless connectivity to the thriving local communities that global guests are eager to explore.
The Standard, Singapore
Drawing on Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry, the new destination reimagines conventional hospitality through its always-distinctive lens. A world of experiences unfolds across the property’s three primary spaces — The Garden, Café Standard, and Kaya at The Standard — each designed to spark connection and creativity.
Serving as a stage for community and the arts, the hotel fosters partnerships with Singapore’s creative vanguard. Expect to discover community integration in the form of collaborations with local creatives from musicians to visual artists and chefs, curating an ongoing cultural conversation. This thoughtful fusion of global identity and Singaporean essence creates an interactive platform where guests and locals shape experiences together.
Art and design lead throughout the hotel, where guests discover thoughtfully curated elements, from Eric Tobua’s dreamlike lobby art to Samuel Xun’s sculpture in the serenely lush garden, and Saran Yen Panya’s remarkable wallpaper at Kaya.

Guests can choose from 143 rooms — including nine suites with double-height ceilings to create a luxurious sense of space.
Café Standard is an all-day dining crossroads where American bistro fare gets The Standard’s twist. The day-to-night gathering place serves fresh local coffees, reimagined comfort food and inventive cocktails inspired by American pop culture. Regular events energise the space, from high-energy bingo nights to DJ sets.
For signature dining, Kaya at The Standard channels the essence of Japanese izakaya traditions. Here, seasonal sharing plates celebrate Japanese flavours for lively group dining while the bar crafts Japanese-influenced cocktails that pair perfectly with every delightfully oversized dish.
An Offer You Can’t Refuse
The enticing new property is offering an Opening Room Promotion, letting you enjoy 15% off the best available rates, welcome drinks for two at Café Standard and 20% off dining and drinks at certain restaurants and bars. To get one of the first looks at Singapore’s newest hot spot — a perfect choice for holiday get-togethers and getaways — book by 30 December 2024 for stays through 30 June 2025.

The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit
Welcoming guests for the first time on 15 November, The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit is a stellar follow-up to the brand’s debut of The StandardX, Melbourne, in the city’s artsy Fitzroy neighbourhood earlier this year.
The second location was chosen to place you closer to Bangkok’s fast-growing art scene, placing you within steps of galleries, art schools, live music venues, hip restaurants and bars — all set against the beauty of the city’s historic Chao Phraya River.
It brings you closer to the city’s immersive art environment and invites you inside with a rotating art gallery inside the hotel. In collaboration with 10 10 Art Space, the riverside destination invites guests to interact with visiting and permanent collections by local and global artists — including Artists in Residence Gongkan and MRKREME. Both artists collaborated to finish The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit’s streetside and riverfront façades with their bold, colourful artwork.
The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit is the first Asia location of The StandardX with a prime riverside location, making it perfect for getting around the city by boat and watching the lights twinkle off the river at night as you enjoy a cocktail and Mexican-inspired bites at THE ROOF, the hotel’s 6th-floor poolside oasis with 360-degree views of the river.
The hotel has 62 guestrooms in four types with intentionally minimalist rooms that never skimp on comfort, ranging from 30 to 46 sqm: Cozy King, Cozy Twin, King on the River, and King of Kings, which features both riverfront and city views.
At mealtime, sample daring Thai dishes like Grilled Chicken (Gor Lae) with Roti, Pong-Neng Fried Mussels and Som Tum Chao Phraya at BANG or enjoy the scenery at THE ROOF. Or, if you’re ready to explore the city, grab all your essential snacks, local coffee, and artisan Thai goodies at THE BOX.
Whether you’re planning a getaway focused on sipping cocktails poolside or a city break that lets you dive into a neighbourhood’s creative scene, The Standard’s two new properties in Singapore and Bangkok blend local soul with The Standard’s unmistakable flair.
