
Hong Kong’s premier literary festival is scheduled to return in March 2025 with an inspiring roster of writers. Programmes will include literary lunches, workshops, family events, International Women’s Day spotlights, and a range of sessions that cater to bibliophiles of all ages. This year’s edition will run from March 1 to 8 at different venues across the city, including the Central Library and Soho House.
What to expect at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival 2025
Early-bird tickets are now available while more will be released over the coming weeks. The line-up this year boasts both upcoming and renowned authors. Alka Joshi, the best-selling author of the Jaipur trilogy will bring her inspiring journey and global bestseller to the festival’s marquee event.
The festival will also feature Bernardine Evaristo, a literary powerhouse who is the first Black woman and Black British person to win the Booker Prize in its 50-year history. Attendees can also anticipate Asako Yuzuki’s session. The novel Butter, her first work published in English, became an international bestseller for being an exhilarating read.

Meanwhile, Jake Adelstein, an American investigative journalist based in Japan will also be in attendance. His work Tokyo Vice inspired the 2022 Max original series of the same name. Adelstein became the first non-Japanese staff writer at the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.
Hong Kong talent will also be strongly represented at the festival. Sonia Leung, the author of The Girl Who Dreamed: A Hong Kong Journey will share her journey of resilience. She will also lead a writing workshop to empower participants to reclaim their narratives.

Another session not to miss will be the discussion between writer, comedian and host Jennifer Wong alongside chef ArChan Chan of Ho Lee Fook. The two will reflect on their respective works surrounding food and family for International Women’s Day. A wellness addition to the event will be the launch of Michelle Bang’s book, Sun & Ssukgat – The Korean Art of Self-Care, Wellness, and Longevity. Bang will explore timeless practices for self-care from healing foods to sustainable living.
